10 Steps to Upgrade to Cpanel 11

Written by on May 14, 2007 in WHM/Cpanel - 3 Comments

You certainly heard about the latest CPanel 11, automated updates are not yet available on the stable branch and many was asking me how to upgrade their servers to this new release. Notice that to use Cpanel 11 you will have to switch to current branch, which is not recommended for hosting providers, but if you manage your own server you can use it at your own risk. Stable release is planned for June 13, 2007.

  1. Login to your server WHM
  2. Run Software -> Update System Software
  3. Run Software -> Update Server Software
  4. Choose Cpanel -> Upgrade to Latest Version ; then click on the Update Settings link
  5. By default cPanel/WHM Updates are set to Automatic (STABLE tree), change it to Automatic (CURRENT tree), then save
  6. Choose again Cpanel -> Upgrade to Latest Version ; then Click to upgrade.
  7. Be patient until the upgrade process is over
  8. Run Themes -> X Skin Migration Wizard, select all your account and click to migrate theme to x3/x3mail themes
  9. Now Logout and login again to your WHM or Cpanel to see it updated to Cpanel 11
  10. Enjoy !

Since the release of cPanel 11, we have noticed a number of instances where the cPanel 11 release update failed to complete. The symptoms can
vary, including blank pages being drawn from certain features .

I love cpanel 11.xx and the way it’s laid out. I cannot understand why people demand to stick with cpanel X so often. It’s so ugly and unorganized.
